OEE Calculator
Measure the true efficiency of your manufacturing processes by calculating Availability, Performance, and Quality metrics.
Understanding the Metrics
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is the gold standard for measuring manufacturing productivity. Simply put – it identifies the percentage of manufacturing time that is truly productive.
Industry Benchmarks
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 100% | Perfect Production: Manufacturing only good parts, as fast as possible, with no stop time. |
| 85% | World Class for discrete manufacturers. A suitable long-term goal. |
| 60% | Typical for discrete manufacturers. Indicates substantial room for improvement. |
| 40% | Common for manufacturing companies that are just starting to track performance. |
Common Mistakes
- Excluding setup time from downtime: Setup and adjustments are a form of downtime and must be included in planned production time to get an accurate availability metric.
- Using an artificially low ideal cycle time: Ideal cycle time should represent the theoretical maximum speed of the equipment, not the budgeted or average speed.
